Former AHCL CEO awarded Honorary Fellowship of the University of Sydney
Former AHCL CEO Leon Clark has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of The University of Sydney, in recognition of his continued support and welfare of the university.
Dr Clark has a long affiliation with the University dating back to his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, which he obtained in 1968.
Dr Clark was involved in the establishment of the flagship Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in 2009. Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School was the first fully fledged Clinical School embedded in the private sector.
The project received support from Professor The Hon Marie Bashir AC CVO, The Hon Tanya Pilbersek MP, The Hon Peter Dutton Mp, The Hon Jillian Skinner and a number of significant philanthropic donors.
Dr Clark was the AHCL chief executive from 2002 to 2012 and worked as Group CEO from 2012 till his retirement in 2015. Dr Clark had been a driving force in the San’s growth, redevelopment and enhancing its reputation as a centre of excellence.
He currently serves on the boards of not-for-profit organisations including the Clinical Excellence Commission, the Agency for Clinical Innovation and Medi-Aid Centre Foundation Limited.
