San's environmental improvements recognised by NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Sustainability

Sydney Adventist Hospital's environmental improvements in the workplace have been recognised with its announcement as a Bronze Partner of the Sustainability Advantage Recognition Scheme by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Sustainability.

The scheme assists organisations across New South Wales to achieve increased competitiveness by helping in identifying and implementing projects that enable them to save money, improve productivity and integrate environmental strategies.

The San is a Bronze Partner of the scheme for demonstrating commitment to business sustainability and by showing progress towards sustainable practice and through active participation.

Some of the environmentally friendly projects undertaken at the San include reduction in waste per bed despite an increase in patient numbers, installing energy efficient technologies and solar panels (producing 15% of the energy needs of the building they are installed on) to reduce energy consumption, and being actively involved with Baxter Health to improve soft plastic recycling in the surgical centre.
