Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott joined the San cyclists’ team of doctors, nurses, and health professionals to participate in the 2017 Bobbin Head Classic on a beautiful sunny Sunday.

Blessed with fine weather, the charity fun ride offered a challenging 104 km ride for professional cyclists and a more social 27 km.

The rides started and finished at Karuah Oval Turramurra with support from more than 400 volunteer marshals, SES and Police.

The health promoting event was a great opportunity for community involvement and also raised funds for various local Rotary clubs and Lifeline.

The San cyclists’ team included San GM Brett Goods (Captain), former prime minister Tony Abbott, and various San medical, nursing and administrative staff and supporters including Andrew Featherstone, Samantha Holmes, David Blyth, Dr’s Saurabh Gupta, Ross Grant and Jim Sullivan, Rita Richter, Chinh Cap Lien, Catherine Bernard, Jade Berg, Jim Crews, Scott Lovell, Stephen Mitchell, Ewan Layton, Chris Starrett, Liz Reynolds, Andrew Reynolds, and Ben Uprichard.

Thanks to all members of the San community involved including medical & nursing staff and friends who volunteered and manned 2 stations on standby to meet any medical needs - Lisa Field, Maggie Hudson, Connie McLean, Sebastian Davila, Dr Greg McDonald and Raymond Ong.

Thanks also to the San Physiotherapy tent manned by San Physiotherapist Kim Toyer and 10 students from Meadowbank Tafe.
